I’m 29 and often feel like I’ve missed it—even standing on this side of the promise. This sense of “missing it” stems from a deeper knowing that there’s more to our current reality. This is not our home. We’re simply passing through on the way to eternity, where my greatest desire is for both of us to hear, “Well done.” Until then, God has built endurance into our bones.
Somehow, we must find joy in knowing that everything we endure serves to perfect our character, molding us to look more like Him. It’s in that space that the pressure to become is released. It’s about the intentional daily steps, the quiet reflections, and giving ourselves the grace to embrace who we are today. Knowing that a better version of us is on the horizon doesn’t mean focusing on tomorrow—it means finding contentment in today, where every situation reveals the work God has already done within us.
We must stand on the truth with wholehearted conviction, unwavering in the belief that God is good. And if He is good, then He desires to see the life He wrote for us fulfilled. That’s where we partner with Him, despite how things look or feel.
I wonder if you’re like me—where you tell God what to do, maybe even run ahead of Him, only to realize you’re moving out of step. The whole time, we were meant to stride alongside Him, not strive ahead.
I don’t dismiss your longing to become what God promised. That longing is there for a reason. I encourage you: don’t lose hope. If God promised it, He will do it. He is faithful to complete what He started in you.
Speaking for myself as a newly married woman, I didn’t initially desire to become a wife. God awakened that desire within me. I gave it back to Him and trusted Him to reveal it in His timing. In the waiting, I found peace. I found myself. I learned who I am through God’s lens, grew in community, and focused on being the best version of myself for that season. I realized you can’t run out of time when you’re in God’s will.
God knows the desires of your heart—He placed them there.
And He’s also in the course-correcting business. Some desires need refining, and God recenters our focus as we seek Him daily.
You don’t desire to be alone? That’s great.
Find healthy, godly community where you can grow. One day, when His timing is perfect, you’ll look up and see someone whose future aligns with yours. While waiting on God’s best, don’t settle for second-best, “good enough,” or create a chapter that was never meant to be written.
Endure.
You’ll be better because of it. Contentment looks good on you—find solace there.
For the One Like Me,
