The title had me in the first half!! I recently read the book of Job again and I was shocked by how bitter his lamentations were when he faced all his afflictions. And it’s like, if Job, the most righteous man on earth could sound this bitter… then clearly there’s nothing wrong with me honestly expressing my pain too.

The title had me in the first half but this was a really great read. Thank you for sharing!!!!!

God’s not intimidated by our pain. He already knows! We as the corporate “church” do a bad job at allowing people to express the negative emotions. It’s typically bandaged with scripture verses that are out of context anyways.

It’s in the pain God meets us and directs our steps.

Thanks for reading 🥹

This is good; not only is it steeped in the reality of lived experience, it doesn't deny or shy away from the reality of the omnipotent and loving God we have in YHWH. Finally, it's broadly practical--all those things are important to do (be honest, have a community, etc) but they will specifically look different for everybody.

Well written and helpful!

We can’t afford to shy away from the reality of God and the tension of our experience. Both make the journey what it’s suppose to be for who we are becoming in him. Thanks for reading, Marcus!
