As someone who has been around since Myspace, I find the new dawn of a social media platform less exciting as I age. Instagram is my favorite. She’s always been that girl. TikTok… we’ll credit her for helping me create content at a larger scale when I desired to scale for live videos. Facebook is for the family at this point. I pop in, give a few updates, and then fade out until next month.
Twitter?
X?
Once upon a time, I shared my thoughts—more like I found popular quotes, copied, pasted, and posted on Twitter. Now that I reflect, I see that Twitter and Facebook are tied for the most deleted or deactivated awards. I usually find my way back to reactivation.
The newest kid on the block = Threads
I love Threads because, even though it’s a discovery platform, it also doubles as a relationship platform. It feels like what Twitter attempted, but it eventually fell short of accomplishing. Twitter was tried and true, but then it switched to the hands of a new owner, and I bounced before the ink dried.
Threads dropped, and the ability to build community is next-level. You can have a robust conversation on this platform similar.
One post received 239 replies and 1,299 likes. This demonstrates its ability to reach people effectively, as it is a new platform. The possibilities are endless when you are aligned with God's timing.
For instance, you could write a post, and someone you admire in the Christian community might spontaneously congratulate you.
I've been thinking about hiring a book coach for a while. Not just ANY book coach, but one God-ordained to help me birth what I am carrying. I desire to write a book on obedience. To write, I needed an outline and help creating one. I asked around on Threads to see if book coaches could assist me. I can't show you the post because I deleted it after receiving this response:
A friend I worked with in previous seasons offered her genius to assist me. Together, we created an outline. I took what was in my head, and she organized it in a Google spreadsheet with proposed timelines and expectations.
The outline consists of 28 essays, one for each year of my age, across four sections: awareness, accountability, application, and abiding.
I am writing a collection of essays on finding yourself between God’s word and a couple of his promises. This project reflects lessons learned as I navigated the wilderness to marriage with Him over eight years.
I will share this experience with exclusive access subscribers and invite you to join me on my book-writing journey. As I outline, write, and publish, you’ll receive access as an interactive readers edition and a digital copy of the final book when complete.
Threads connected me to my book coach.
I encourage you to find your space and become intentional about it. This season, I am focusing solely on YouTube as a discovery platform. Instagram and TikTok supplement what God is doing through me on YouTube.
It’s humbling.
I’ll write about this experience next.
I will be cutting back on writing weekly on here as I write my book. However, I’ll be sure to publish at least twice a month—one free and one exclusive—about those with exclusive access.
What is one way you use social media in your life or business? I’m curious. Please share with us how you’re discovering or building relationships with others through it.
Your accountability partner,
Janae Carlee
Hi Janae! I think I found you yesterday because someone restacked your account. I truly enjoy reading. Are you doing guest posting or anything like that? I'm new to Substack and heard that it's a good thing and I believe we share the same topic interests. Just thought I'd ask and even thought this is from months ago, I'd like to say congratulations! I've also subbed on your YouTube and about to follow on Threads!
I feel like I'm watching a movie... so excited and proud.
In this season, I have actually deleted and deactivated majority of my accounts. By God's lead I'll create new ones if needed, but I feel I'm supposed to be focusing on the local public face-to-face at this time.
