I choose not to remain the same... With the overwhelming choices presented daily, even in our humanity, it will all work out for our good. If not, God would not have said so in Romans 8:28.
8 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
For those who love God
All things work together for good
for those who are called
according to his purpose
HIS PURPOSE, not ours.
We do not get to choose this purpose. We get to decide how we show up in what he reveals, even when we fall short. We will fall short often; I know I do. Healing happens during the reveal of shortcomings.
The falling doesn't disqualify us from the calling.
Life sometimes feels like a tug-of-war between right and wrong, up and down, left and right. God, the ever-so-loving Father he is, guides us daily through the working power of His Spirit. God is challenging us to apply the instructions in his word for our good.
✿ The Bible is his love letter to us all. Whatever you need is found throughout its pages, even if you don't want it because it disciplines you. Read it anyway.
As I read from Romans 5 to 8, the following verses were highlighted:
Romans 6:16 "Don't you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
Romans 7:4 "So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God."
We become a slave of whatever we choose to obey.
At some point, we must muster enough courage, drop excuses, and speak to the mountain [insert pain point] to tell it to move OR climb over it.
✿ If you need a sign, this it is. The walls do fall, even if it's the one around your heart. For every roadblock, hindrance, cloud of doubt, confusion, or fear, I command it to leave now in the name of Jesus.
We are to apply what we've learned.
Faith without works is dead.
We need the action, the intentionality, the thinking about what we think and aligning it with scripture. We will all pass the test.
Commit to the following:
Acknowledge your shortcomings.
Seek accountability
Apply the word, don’t just recite it, and
Abide
God's healing the sickness with no name: disappointment.
Healing requires intentionality on our end to admit we need God at all times.
✿ Read starting at Romans 5. Keep reading until Holy Spirit says to stop. I stopped at Romans 8. Invite God in. Ask him to highlight what you need.
It's about his purpose, not ours.
We must remain decided, but it ultimately is your choice.
If you love GOD, it will all work out for your good because YOU ARE CALLED according to HIS PURPOSE—not ours.
✿ Keep going! I’ll talk about sensing transitions and remaining planted and single-focused in the next entry.
Your accountability partner,
Janae Carlee
