A few days ago, I shared the “I’m overwhelmed and should probably write about it” essay, encouraging us to return to the basics by sitting with God in the days ahead. I took my advice, sat with Him, and mapped out my 2025. In that quiet time, I decided to host a Seek and Strategize gathering—a space to trust God with our plans for the year ahead.
For 90 minutes, we prayed, sought, and mapped out the first 12 weeks of the year, knowing that God would guide us and add steps along the way. This gathering was free and virtual.
This isn’t about perfection or pressure—it’s about showing up, adapting, and moving forward intentionally. Afterward, the playback will be available exclusively for paid subscribers (the first one is free) in a special column here on Substack, accessible anytime.
Returning to the Basics
As I prayed about 2025, God brought me back to the old words He spoke, reminding me to focus on three key areas.
From there, I mapped out my first 12-week plan, breaking it into tasks to complete by March 17—because we don’t have to wait until January to start organizing our lives.
This isn’t about convincing you to become a paid subscriber; it’s about showing you how good change can be and how we shouldn’t be afraid to build on what’s already working.
I’m most excited to bring you along for my book-writing journey. It’s been a four-year endeavor, and I’ve finally mapped out my plan. Starting February 3, I’ll release the first chapter for paid subscribers to read as I write. The theme? Obedience in the Waiting—what it looks like to navigate the “in-between” of God’s promises. I’ll spend the next month refining my outline and developing essays to support this theme.
What’s Coming in 2025
Life is crazy, but community and connection are vital. Here’s what you can expect in the coming year:
Handwritten Letters: Starting in January, I’ll mail monthly handwritten letters to paid subscribers on the 22nd of each month, filled with encouragement to keep going.
Design Classes: I’m returning to my first love—design! I’ll host Canva workshops for beginners and Adobe classes for advanced designers starting January 26.
Book Writing: Beginning February 3, I’ll share my book chapters with paid subscribers as I write.
Weekly Podcast Episodes: With the feedback received we are taking out podcasts weekly and exploring more culturally-relevant topics. If you have a question or topic you’d like us to explore submit it here.
Between creating content, book writing, teaching design classes, and podcasting, my 2025 will be intentionally productive. I hope the same for you and invite you to join me on this journey.
For the One Like Me
This space exists to help you become everything God has spoken over your life—through small, intentional steps while navigating the “in-between.”
To support that mission, I’m introducing a new segment: Dear One Like Me. This is your opportunity to submit questions for thoughtful, wisdom-filled responses via writing or video. Your questions will remain anonymous, so don’t worry.
Out with the Old, In with the Becoming
2025 is about growth, trust, and intentionality. I’ve created this space to encourage and equip you to embrace the process, lean into God’s timing, and move forward with purpose.
Thank you for being here. Let’s navigate this next season together.
Your homegirl,
Janae Carlee
