The unknown is uncomfortable. It strips away our control. When I moved to Texas in July of 2021, I headed straight to HomeGoods after securing my apartment keys.
On the floor, in the decor section, lay a piece of wall art with a quote I knew needed to be in my home—never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. This is where you snap because that is a fire quote.
Do you see yourself the way God sees you? Or are you living in the shadows of mediocrity out of the fear of the unknown?
No more.
Embracing the unknown is our superpower. Change is constant. As your accountability partner, I can’t let you live in fear any longer.
FEAR HAS NO HOME HERE.
As the Bible says in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
I understand most of us are in an unexpected season. We aren’t even in the dream of what our younger self envisioned. Pause, breathe deep, and find peace knowing you are where you must be, regardless of perception or previous decisions.
This is an opportunity for growth and the implementation of wisdom—which is a far more excellent teacher than experience when we don’t have to experience what wisdom has already walked through. Unless wisdom stops at the gate where only experience can carry us forth.
God doesn’t give us fear.
He gives us power, love, and self-discipline. In other translations, it reads, sound mind.
Wisdom guides us to exercise God’s power found in his words, wrapped in his love, with the discipline to obey his commands to walk where he leads.
For example, the bible talks about the shrewd worker found in Luke 16. This worker was fired for lacking discipline to complete his tasks. Before his firing, he was asked to give an outstanding record. Using his shrewdness to settle debts and secure his future, the employer celebrated him for his actions. You won’t guess what happened next unless you’ve read this story already. Then, you have the cheat code.
The Bible says in Luke 16:8, “…And it is true that the children of this world are more shrewd in dealing with the world around them than are the children of the light.”
Gasps in disbelief.
The people in this world use worldly wisdom and are considered wiser. Yet, we, the children of God, have access to the only wisdom that matters, and we’re not using it to advance God’s kingdom.
Lord, help us!
Fear keeps us muted and stagnant.
No more.
Give yourself grace. You’re further along than you think.
I encourage you to build upon THAT foundation. The one God’s revealed as you keep moving forward. Daily, make decisions aligning with what God’s spoken over your life. This brings you closer to his ultimate plan. Remember, purpose is not what you do. It’s who you are.
When you get distracted, refocus.
God told me to go live on TIK TOK in 2021. I had 400 followers when he told me to do so. I committed to posting 1-3x daily, and within a month, I had 1000. You need 1000 followers to go live.
I went live once.
Fast forward, I found myself in 2023, going live after a failed attempt on Instagram. As I spoke, God reminded me of His instruction from 2021.
I got distracted.
I decided to refocus in 2024, to commit to showing up the fullness of who God says I am today to become EVERYTHING he said I can become.
God’s timing is perfect, even when it takes longer than expected. What may seem like overnight success is 7 to 15 years in his making. Anything worth building takes time, including maturity. Eventually, you’ll show up without hindrance because you fully believe God is who he says he is, and in return, you’ll see everything he’s equipped you with.
Community and honesty kept me accountable. Deciding to trust GOD with our unknown future allows him to help us overcome any doubt, fear, or insecurity as we continue walking. We can’t do it alone or without him.
The unknown is uncomfortable, but God is already there.
Your accountability partner,
Janae Carlee
